In the late 2008/2009 model years, the Mercedes E-Class W211 no longer has a kinematics compartment, but a fixed "installation frame" (A2116801714) to which the upper control panel in the center console is attached. The control panel itself no longer has a button to open the kinematics compartment.

If you want to retrofit yourself this function, you need:

Used kinematics unit for retrofitting in mopf vehicles
Used switch panel according to your equipment-related key assignment
Kinematics adapter
This Y cable

This Y cable contains suitable plugs for connecting the kinematic adapter to the 4-pin vehicle plug. In addition, a loose end must be connected to ignition positive. Here, the cigarette lighter or the glove box lighting offer themselves, the connection, for example, by current thief you would have to take over, however, because there is no suitable plug here. An illustrated installation manual is supplied per PDF!

Alternatively, we will be happy to procure and convert a used kinematic unit for you, ready to install at a fixed price!
